Cakes lead to Treason...

WARNING:
THIS CAKE IN NO WAY REFLECTS THE OPINIONS OF THIS BLOGGER OR ITS AFFILIATES!

...let me explain. I volunteered my cake decorating skills (or skillz, if you will ;) to make our friend Dallin's first birthday cake. Shannon (his mommy) told me I could choose the theme of the cake. Hmmm...what a big responsibility. Should I go for the hip pirate cake? A Cars cake? Everyone likes Mickey Mouse... I think he likes dinosaurs, so I decide to go for the dinos! But I get to Michael's and there aren't too many dinosaur cake decorations. So, I start thinking...Dallin's dad, Seth, loves-and I mean LOVES-football, so I will make a football cake. The only problem is that he LOVES BYU Football...the bane of my existence! But I decided to take one for the "other team" and treat Dallin to a Coug Cake. I think he liked it, but not as much as his daddy.

To my fellow Utes: please forgive me for committing such an act of treason!

I also ended up making a dinosaur cake too-the one Dallin got to dig into!
Happy Birthday, big D!

My Funny Valentine...

This weeks cake was a V-day extravaganza! I made some bold color choices and just poured my "heart" into this one!

Patty Cake Patty Cake....

This week's cake was to look like a knitted baby outfit. So far, it is one of my favorites! I made this one especially for "Abe the Babe" who should be born in the next few weeks. He belongs to by good friend Beth (the Babe). Too bad they live too far away to get a taste, but we will enjoy it for them.

**I couldn't get the photo in the middle to rotate, so you may have to turn your head to the side for a good view!

FORE!!!!!!!!!

The final session of my cake class was last night and this is what I created. This one's for you, dad!!

It reminds me of the good old days....driving the beverage cart (as the beer babe) at Bountiful Ridge. Fore!

Tonight's Cake

I made this cake for a friend's dad who just fell and broke his collar bone. Ouch!! Anyway, the new techniques we learned tonight were the bows and drop flowers--the little orange ones. Ashley made a HAPPY MAY DAY cake with darling little drop flowers and sweet peas. We both refused to do roses...mostly because they are too hard, but also because they are too ugly!

Cake Decor Part Deux

Okay, so this week's class didn't go so well. The cake is supposed to look like a book, but mine mostly looks like a cake with a big dent in it. Oh well, it tastes pretty good. Better luck next week!

But look how cute Ashley's turned out!! It makes the class fun to take it with a good buddy!

Let Them Eat Cake...

I started a cake decorating class this Tuesday. It is at this really cute cake decor supply called Gloria's. This week's cake was the "Sunflower Cake" (obviously!) It was super fun. My good buddy Ashley Poole will be joining me for the rest of the 7 weeks, but had to miss class this week because she was sunning herself in beautiful Hawaii. Stay tuned for more cake creations!
