Black Eye

This is what happens to Sean when he gets out of line!

Actually, some of you know that I love guys in eyeliner,
but Sean refused to wear it, so this was the alternative. Isn't it hot?!?

It's Galactic!

Since we live here in LA, we couldn't pass up the chance to go check out a Galaxy game--especially now that David Beckham is playing for them.

Six UCLA Dental Students, one wife, and one kid were there to cheer on Bex, Cobi, and Donavan as they took on the Chivas USA.

This was as close as Sean got to meeting the players!

Thanks to Jake Cragun's fine planning, we got to the game early enough to sit on the front row, so Sean managed to get a few action shots.
Unfortunately, the game ended in a 3-0 loss for the Galaxy, but attending live sports events is always a good time!

Youngs Vs. Wild

To celebrate our 5 year anniversary, Sean and I headed to the great outdoors. (An attempt to be a little less "indoorsy!") We packed our tent, coolers, camp stove, chairs, and grill for some good old "Car Camping" in Sequioa.

We made sure to put all of our food in our "Bear Box" so that we would not be attacked by the many black bears in the area. Sean wanted to leave food out to attract one, so we could get a good view, but I was not okay with this idea. (We have seen what a bear can do to a person! Right, Bishop Mike??)

Cooking a delicious dinner!

We hiked the Big Meadow Trail to Weaver Lake.

Sean found a big pinecone.

We even went for a dip in the chilly lake! Woooweee....

But the most spectacular sight of all was, of course, the trees!!

This here is the general Sherman.
He is the largest living thing on Earth!

Who's Got Talent?

Apparently America does! So, with yet another summer vacation day, I went to the taping of America's Got Talent with my good buddy Kelley. I mean really, who could pass up the opportunity to see Jerry Springer, Sharon Osborne, and David Hasselhoff on one stage! Hey...don't hassle the Hoff! It was the finale, so they pulled out all the stops and brought out UB40, STOMP, Sean Kingston, and the Muppets to do guest performances with the contestants. We sat behind the judges, so we may have a little face time...we'll see. It is on NBC tonight, so if you have nothing better to do, check it out. Bottom line: David Hasselhoff is incredible!*

*Note, the signs that the audience holds up with clever sayings like "I love David Hasselhoff" or "The Hoff is Hot" are planted. No one brought them in--they are supplied by the show. Is that awesome or what!?

The Original Hot Dog Stick

If you were ever wondering where the silly outfits, delicious lemonade, and hot dogs on sticks first started, this is the place! Kelley and I went for a bike ride on the beach and then stopped for a yummy snack here right under the Santa Monica Pier at the Original Hot Dog Stick...notice the lack of the words "on a"...those must have come later. It tasted so much better than the mall locations....what do you expect? It's on the beach!

Good Old Fashioned Family Campin'

Every summer since I was about 10, my family (on my mom's side) has been going to Cascade Reservoir in Idaho to camp, fish, and water ski. It is the best place on earth as far as I am concerned. Camping right on the beach of a warm alpine lake--that is heaven on earth to me.

It is a rare occasion that everyone can make it because of busy schedules, but this time 'round all 5 Wellings were there!!

It was just like old times with the 5 of us all sleeping in the same tent trailor. Only it was a little tighter fit this time with my 6'2, 6'3, and 6'4 dad andbrothers!

The whole Peterson/Beto gang made it

As did the Warner Crew

Here's Mike and Syd

The Haagensens

And of course Grandma and Grandpa

Jadon, Cousin Jesse and Tyce with the new wake board.

I like to stick to the old trusty ski!

Relaxing on the beach with a cold one!

Unfortunately with all the wild fires in Idaho, we weren't allowed to have campfires, so this is my s'more roasting spot. It was still pretty great and I was left wanting s'more!

The rope swing made for endless hours of fun! Ain't life's simple pleasures grand?!

Almost only counts in....
Horseshoes!
(By the way, I am officially the worst horseshoe tosser in the western United States!)

Another time passer is "Beach Driving Range" shhhh...don't tell the rangers or Al Gore.

The forest fires made for some b-e-a-utiful moon rises and sunsets.

And even though we couldn't have fires, that didn't stop us from sitting around the firepit (with a latern in it to fool the mind) and playing "would you rather" or listening to cousin Sean Impomeni do impressions. Aunt Jeannie was his best. You may want to remember his name as he will likely be in a comedy club near you. Funny stuff and good times!

You may ask yourself, where is Sean Young?? One guess....yep, in school. (But he was on Oral Surgery Block which he loved, so he didn't feel so bad missing the vacay.)

Big Brother Gets Married

Chris and Trisha tied the knot on August 4th
in Vancouver, Washington.
A beautiful garden ceremony on the Columbia River.
(Sorry, ladies, that means that all the Young boys
are now officially off the market!)

Trisha's mom hosted a bar-b-que rehearsal dinner
the night before the wedding at her ranch home.

Pat and I got our guitar hero on during the night's festivities.

Lindsay did it again...and created this masterpiece.

The Youngs...all 10 of us!

The Bridal Party--don't the girls look like lovely little tulips.

The 4 Young Sisters-in-Law with our honorary sis-in-law,
Amina, in a fabulous blue dress.

Linds and I got our groove on!

JD and I gave a toast in the form a duet..."Well, I....had the time of my life..."

Congratulations to the newlyweds!
We are super happy for you both!!

The Simpsons

Just call me Marge! Sean and I were finally able to see the Simpsons Movie. I liked it. Not the funniest movie I have ever seen, but definitely had some good chuckle moments. I laughed especially hard when Bart was arrested for indecent exposure! HA! Definitely worth seeing on the big screen though since renting it would just be like watching one long TV episode. :)
